Principal's Message

Monday, October 21, 2019

Happy Monday from Taylor Elementary! This past weekend was a beautiful one and I hope that you and your families were able to enjoy it.

Enrichment Clusters begin tomorrow afternoon! Students will be engaged in activities that teach communication, strategy, and good sportsmanship each day this week.

This past weekend one of our local scouts, Joe Panessa, completed his Eagle Scout Project by installing a Gaga Pit at Taylor! Our Taylor PTO funded this project and we are grateful for this wonderful addition to our intermediate playground.

Another quick but important reminder: As we look forward to the end of the first marking period, Spencerport Central School District continues to work toward the implementation of digital report cards. This change offers an opportunity for parents/guardians to receive their students' report cards quickly, in a more cost-effective and eco-friendly way. The easy-to-use system, known as Campus Backpack, will provide 24-hour access to report cards through the existing Infinite Campus Portal. All families will receive a paper copy of the report card for the first marking period, along with the digital copy available through Campus Backpack. Please be mindful that, after the first marking period, all report cards will ONLY be available through Campus Backpack and will not be mailed or sent home with students.  The instructions on how to access Campus Backpack will be included with the first report card and published on the district's website.

This Friday, our Taylor PTO Halloween Party will be held from 6:30-8:30pm. Please use the cafeteria entrance. Crafts, tattoo stations, bowling, bingo, game stations, Live DJ, prizes, lots of candy, and even a 6 foot Dino! I hope to see you there.

Last, but not least, here are a few dates for your planning:

  • November 1st: Fall Festival - students should come prepared to engage in fun, physical activities
  • November 7th: Author Visit- Amy Ludwig VanDerwater comes to Taylor
  • November 8th: K-8 Half-Day- Students will be dismissed at 11:50
  • November 11th: No School-Veteran’s Day
  • November 27th-29th: Thanksgiving Recess

As always, thank you for your partnership and support.
